There are more photo booth apps for iPad and iPhone than ever, but they are not all built for the same person. Some are made for professional booth businesses running branded activations every weekend. Others are made for someone hosting a wedding, birthday or office party who wants a booth guests will love without becoming a photo booth operator. Here are seven worth knowing in 2026, and who each one suits best.
Who we are, and how we compared.
CreateBooth publishes this guide, and CreateBooth is one of the apps in it. So rather than crown one app best for everyone, we have grouped them by what you are trying to do, and listed where each one falls short, ours included.
We compared what each company publicly lists: the devices it runs on, starting prices, short-term options for a single event, AI photo features, galleries and sharing, printing and camera support. Prices were checked on 28 October 2026. CreateBooth’s prices are from the UK App Store, including VAT. For every other app we show the price on the company’s own pricing page, in the currency it uses. Prices and features change often, so check the current price before you buy.
We have not run every competitor’s paid plans at a live event. Most of these apps offer a free trial, and we recommend trying your shortlist with your own device and lighting before the day.

A closer look at each one.
1. CreateBooth: best for DIY and hosting your own event
Price: free to download, with a free event of 20 captures (watermarked). An Event Pass is a one-off £5.99: it opens a 72-hour window to create Premium events, with no subscription. Premium is £6.99 a month and includes 30 AI credits each paid month. AI credit packs start at £19.99 for 100 (sale price until 14 December; normally £24.99). Gallery hosting lasts 30 days, and a 90-day extension costs £0.99.
CreateBooth is built for the person hosting the party, not the person renting out the booth. Setup is guided: choose a photo design and booth theme, decide what guests can capture, test your camera, and you are ready. Premium features like designer themes, a private guestbook, beauty smoothing and printing are switches, not projects.
What it does well
- AI prompt studio. Pick a ready-made look, or describe your own and test it on a sample photo before the event. Choose between GPT Image and Nano Banana 2. Guests review their photo before any credits are spent.
- One-tap live event gallery. Photos can appear in a live gallery during the party, and you publish the finished gallery with a single tap afterwards.
- Pay for one event, not a year. The £5.99 Event Pass suits a single wedding or birthday with no subscription.
- Works on the iPhone or iPad you already have. No account is needed to start, and guests share with a QR code or email link.
- A private guestbook for messages from guests, kept behind a host password.
Where it falls short
- It is not a professional photo booth system. If you run a booth business, you will find fewer advanced settings and customisation options than operator platforms offer, such as deep white-labelling, lead-capture surveys and SMS delivery. That is deliberate: those settings can be overwhelming if you are not a photo booth operator.
- iPhone and iPad only: there is no Android, Mac or Windows version.
- AI photos need an internet connection, and AI credits are bought separately from Premium or an Event Pass.
- It is newer than most apps here, so it has fewer App Store reviews.
2. Simple Booth HALO: best for branded activations
Price: Core is $24 a week or $49 a month, Plus is $49 a week or $99 a month, Pro is $149 a month and Select is $249 a month, with yearly plans available. AI generations use credits at $0.10 each, with 1 to 3 credits per image depending on the model. There is a 7-day free trial.
Simple Booth is one of the best-known names in iPad photo booths, with hardware kits alongside the app. Its higher plans are aimed at brands and agencies, with custom branding, analytics, data capture and compliance tools.
What it does well
- Polished guest experience and a strong range of capture types, from photo strips to video.
- Marketing tools for brands: custom branding, analytics, data capture forms and integrations on higher plans.
- Weekly plans on Core and Plus for one-off events.
Where it falls short
- The App Store lists it for iPad only.
- Custom branding and its AI Effect Studio start on the Plus plan, and AI generations cost extra credits.
- Each device running at the same time needs its own licence.
3. Snappic: best for advanced AI and video experiences
Price: Starter is $69 a month or $29 per event. Business is $189 a month or $79 per event, Premium is $279 a month or $109 per event, and Scale is $399 a month. There is a 14-day free trial.
Snappic is built for professional operators who want headline experiences: AI-FX transformations, VideoFX for 360 booths and Glambots, green screen with AI background removal, and branded microsites.
What it does well
- One of the broadest sets of AI and video effects of any booth app.
- Runs on iPad, iPhone and Mac, with DSLR and GoPro support.
- Per-event pricing alongside monthly plans, and 24/7 support.
Where it falls short
- AI-FX, VideoFX and surveys start on the Business plan.
- On Starter, microsites are a $19-per-event add-on, and several extras (white label, webhooks, event codes) are paid add-ons below Premium.
- It is priced for booth businesses, which is a lot of platform for one family party.
4. LumaBooth: best value for DSLR, 360 and mixed hardware
Price: LumaBooth for Apple is $18 a month billed yearly, or $19.99 month to month, including two devices. AI portraits are $0.10 each, and each app includes 20 free AI transformations to start.
LumaBooth, from the makers of dslrBooth (now LumaBooth for Windows), is a long-standing choice for operators who want broad hardware support at a modest price.
What it does well
- Works with Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras, with photo, 360, video and glam booth modes.
- Printing over AirPrint or a direct USB connection to supported printers.
- Low starting price, with two devices included.
Where it falls short
- It is designed for operators, with many settings to learn for a single party.
- The Windows app is a separate subscription.
5. Booth.Events: best flexible plans for professional booths
Price: Basic is £39 a month, Pro £69 a month and Pro+ £99 a month (or £999 a year). A one-week pass is £19, and 4 Pro event credits cost £79. AI credits are $8 per 100 during the beta.
Booth.Events is a capable professional platform with useful short-term options, a web dashboard with live sync to your devices, and strong camera support.
What it does well
- A one-week pass and non-expiring event credits for occasional events.
- Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras, 360 spinner booths, printing and an online gallery with slideshow.
- Unlimited email sharing, plus SMS in supported countries.
Where it falls short
- AI prompts and AI portraits are labelled beta.
- Basic covers one iPad, Mac or iPhone, and galleries stay online for 3 months on Basic.
- Like most professional platforms, it expects you to build templates and manage events from a dashboard.
6. Touchpix: best if you need Android or Windows too
Price: on Touchpix’s website, plans start at £24.93 a month billed yearly (£299.13), for 2 active events. There is a 14-day free trial.
Touchpix runs on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux from one licence, which makes it a natural fit for mixed-device booth companies and 360 setups.
What it does well
- The widest platform support in this list.
- Photo AI is included on every plan, with GIFs and photo sessions.
- Unlimited devices on every plan.
Where it falls short
- Plans are limited by the number of active events, and video, slow-mo and boomerang start on MultiPass.
- Selling photos through its paywall carries a fee of 5% to 7.5% per transaction.
- The entry plan only keeps photos (not videos) for 6 months.
7. Fiesta: best for starting a rental business
Price: Plus is $59 a month, or $49 a month billed yearly. Pro is $119 a month, or $99 a month billed yearly. There is a free trial.
Fiesta comes from Photobooth Supply Co. and is designed as all-in-one business software: proposals, a starter website, analytics and live galleries alongside the booth app.
What it does well
- Business tools beyond the booth, from proposals to a portfolio site.
- Unlimited events and captures, permanent gallery hosting and offline support.
- Discounts on Photobooth Supply Co. hardware with yearly plans.
Where it falls short
- Both plans run one booth at a time.
- Printing, 360, green screen and glam are Pro features.
- Its pricing page lists AI masks and AI background removal, but not generative AI transformations.
Start with who is running the booth.
If you are hosting your own event, look for an app you can set up in an evening, try for free, and pay for once. Check that guests can get their photos without downloading anything, and that you can share a gallery afterwards. This is what CreateBooth is designed for.
If you are running a booth business, look for the things your clients will pay for: branding, data capture, DSLR support, printing, 360 and reliable multi-device management. Snappic, Simple Booth, LumaBooth, Booth.Events, Touchpix and Fiesta are all built with you in mind.
Whichever you choose, run a full test with your own device, stand and lighting before the day. Our DIY photo booth guide covers light, framing and setup.
Common questions.
Can I use an iPhone as a photo booth?
Yes. CreateBooth, Snappic, LumaBooth, Booth.Events and Touchpix all list iPhone support. An iPad gives guests a bigger screen to see themselves, but a recent iPhone on a stable stand works well for smaller events.
Do I need a subscription for one party?
Not always. CreateBooth’s Event Pass is a one-off purchase. Booth.Events sells a one-week pass and event credits, Snappic has per-event pricing, and Simple Booth and Touchpix offer weekly plans.
Are AI photos included?
Usually not in full. Most apps charge for AI images through credits or reserve AI for higher plans. Check what one AI photo costs and how many guests you expect.
Will the booth work without Wi-Fi?
Most apps, including CreateBooth, can take ordinary photos offline and upload later. AI generation, live galleries and sharing by email or SMS need an internet connection.
